EMDR Intensives

Heal with Focused, Personalized Trauma Therapy

Sometimes healing doesn't fit neatly into a 50-minute session.

EMDR Intensives offer extended therapy sessions designed to help you make meaningful progress in a shorter period of time. Rather than meeting weekly over several months, an intensive allows us to dedicate uninterrupted time to understanding your experiences, processing traumatic memories, and building healthier ways of responding to life's challenges.

Whether you're feeling stuck in traditional therapy, preparing for a major life transition, or simply prefer a more focused approach, an EMDR Intensive may be the right fit.

What Is an EMDR Intensive?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process distressing memories so they no longer feel overwhelming or continue to impact your daily life in the same way.

An EMDR Intensive combines several hours of therapy into one or more extended sessions. This format allows us to move through preparation, processing, and integration with fewer interruptions, creating momentum and allowing for deeper therapeutic work.

Each intensive is individualized based on your goals, history, and readiness.

EMDR Can Help With

EMDR Intensives may be beneficial for individuals experiencing:

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Childhood trauma

  • Anxiety and panic attacks

  • Depression

  • Grief and loss

  • Medical trauma

  • Relationship trauma

  • Life transitions

  • Low self-esteem

  • Perfectionism

  • Stress and burnout

  • Disturbing memories

  • Negative beliefs about yourself

  • Performance anxiety

Is an EMDR Intensive Right for You?

An intensive may be a good fit if you:

  • Feel like weekly therapy isn't moving quickly enough.

  • Have a specific trauma or life event you'd like to process.

  • Have a demanding schedule that makes weekly appointments difficult.

  • Are traveling from outside the area.

  • Want focused support before or after a major life event.

  • Have already developed coping skills and are ready to engage in deeper trauma work.

  • Are looking to complement your ongoing therapy with another provider.

If you're unsure whether an intensive is appropriate for you, we'll discuss your goals during a consultation to determine the best approach.

What to Expect

1. Consultation

We'll begin with a consultation to discuss your concerns, goals, and determine whether an EMDR Intensive is the right fit.

2. Preparation

Before the intensive, we'll complete a comprehensive assessment, review your history, identify treatment targets, and strengthen coping skills to help you feel prepared.

3. Your Intensive Session

Your intensive will consist of several hours of focused EMDR therapy with planned breaks for rest, hydration, and reflection. The pace is always tailored to your needs, and your emotional safety remains the priority throughout the process.

4. Integration

Healing continues after the intensive. We'll schedule a follow-up session to review your experience, reinforce progress, answer questions, and discuss recommendations for continued healing if needed.

  • A personalized treatment experience

  • Flexibility for busy professionals and travelers

  • The opportunity to focus on healing without the distractions of everyday life

While every person's healing journey is different, many clients report feeling significant relief and increased clarity after completing an intensive.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is one intensive enough?

For some clients, one intensive provides substantial relief. Others benefit from additional sessions depending on the complexity of their history and treatment goals.

Will I be emotionally overwhelmed?

The goal of EMDR is not to relive trauma but to help your brain process it in a healthier way. We move at a pace that feels manageable, incorporating grounding skills and breaks throughout the process.

Can I do an intensive if I already have a therapist?

Yes. With your written permission, I'm happy to collaborate with your current therapist so your care remains coordinated.

Are EMDR Intensives covered by insurance?

EMDR Intensives are generally offered as private-pay services. If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide documentation that you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
